Impact of Calcium on the Reaction
Time of the Mimosa Pudica
A molecular idea on a macro level
And so my plant family begins.
Meet:
Here is what you need to know:
- Plant communication of signal molecules could occur through the plasmodesmata via an actin-myosin interaction.
- When the Mimosa pudica is stimulated or touched its leaflets react by closing.
- This reaction occurs through the transfer of signal molecules, which alert the cells of the leaf of a stimulant.
- An actin-myosin interaction can only occur with the presence of calcium.
- Therefore, and influx of calcium, would mean an increase in molecular trafficking.
I WILL BE INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF CALCIUM WITHIN THE Mimosa pudica AND TIMING HOW FAST IT RESPONDS TO A STIMULI.
