WE BEGIN WITH THE PAST
My experiment and this process has shown me that science is more than just learning about a topic and conducting an experiment and producing a result. Things do not EVER turn out the way you want them to. Science Research has challenged me more than any class I have ever taken. It is the one class that teaches you that your education is in your own hands. It teaches us, that failure is happens, but from that failure we must learn. For my experiment, in particular, I had to revamp my experimental design a handful of times. Each set-back was hard to overcome and at times I felt like I could not continue. However, there is something about Mr. Mann that pushes you to continue, there is something about him that helps you pick up your head and strive for excellence. | Science Research for me has been quite a journey. Quite frankly, the last two years have opened my eyes again to the true gain of knowledge. I have learned that there is a difference between simply learning something because it is required and actually absorbing information because you find it truly fascinating. I have always been a learner, but I never found that thing that really struck my fancy until I started reading about cells. And when I say reading, I mean more than what you get in a standardized Regents Biology class. I am talking hours of searching for articles, watching videos, listening to free lectures online; I am talking sitting in classes, not worrying about the simple 5 question homework for that night, but about how many hours of research I have for that night. |
